Software Engineer (Java)
bij CropDesign in Gent
As an innovative high-tech company, we are looking for a talented Java-developer who is eager to learn. Within the data management team you will play a key role in the development of the systems for capturing and processing scientific data. This includes a broad range of activities, ranging from backend development and GUI development (AJAX applications, SWING applications) to wireless devices and interaction with robotics devices. In the context of BASF Plant Science you will have the opportunity to cooperate in global application development.
Profile:
You are a professional bachelor in informatics or higher. You know most frequently used operating systems (MS, Linux), and you are fluent in Java. An interest in science is a plus.
You are familiar with the Linux or Microsoft operating systems and with Java. Hands-on experience with J2SE and Swing is a prerequisite; knowledge of J2EE is a plus. You are familiar with an IDE (preferably Eclipse), relational databases (SQLServer, MySQL, Oracle), and XML technologies.
You are customer oriented and thus comfortable with pro-active interaction with the customers and the timely and concise follow up and finalisation of user feedback.
You have an entrepreneurial attitude, actively contributing ideas to further the development of the applications in terms of functionality, features, code optimisation, code standardisation and data coherency.
You have an international mindset, meeting the challenges and opportunities inherent when working in an international environment.
